  2. Low-E coatingA thin coating helps manage radiant heat transfer while preserving useful daylight.
  3. Spacer and gasThe edge spacer and specified gas fill form part of the sealed insulating unit.
  4. Laminated layerA bonded interlayer can retain broken fragments and support a tested security configuration.

Clear Glass

A clear insulated-glass unit uses two sealed panes with an air or gas space between them. Compared with a single pane, this construction can improve thermal comfort and reduce some outdoor noise while maintaining a clear, neutral appearance.

  • Important: without a Low-E coating, clear glass provides less control of radiant heat transfer and solar gain.
  • Confirm: pane thickness, spacing, gas fill, frame, installation and whole-window U-factor.

Low-E & Solar-Control Glass

A microscopically thin Low-E coating reduces radiant heat transfer through the sealed glass unit. In winter it helps retain interior heat; in summer, a suitable solar-control coating can limit unwanted exterior heat while preserving useful daylight.

  • Solar performance: higher-, moderate- and lower-solar-gain coatings are selected for climate, orientation and shading.
  • Additional benefit: many Low-E packages also reduce UV transmission associated with fading of fabrics and finishes.

Triple Glass

Three panes create two sealed insulating spaces and can provide higher thermal resistance than a comparable double-pane unit. Low-E coatings and insulating gas fills can further reduce heat flow and improve year-round interior comfort.

  • Comfort: warmer interior glass in winter can reduce cold-window discomfort and improve condensation resistance.
  • Solar control: coatings manage—not eliminate—solar gain; confirm U-factor, SHGC, weight and hardware compatibility.

Security Laminated Glass

Two or more glass plies are bonded to a durable interlayer designed to help retain broken fragments after impact. Specialized laminated make-ups can also support a security plan.

  • Security role: tested configurations may help delay penetration or forced entry.
  • Confirm: threat level, glass build-up, framing, anchorage and complete-system test rating.
